Applied Behavioral Analysis (ABA) is the application of principles that are used to modify various forms of behavior. The focus can be on language, socialization, daily living skills, everyday situations, etc. The way I understand ABA therapy is by the ABC’s (Antecedent -what happens before the behavior, Behavior- the actual occurrence of the behavior, and Consequence- what happens after the behavior). It is used to bring about positive change in behavior. One would need to observe the individual and understand why he or she displays the behavior.
I am not an expert in explaining this type of therapy well, but I know for sure that ABA has benefited many individuals with autism. One thing I admire about ABA therapy is the fact that the individual receives one-on-one attention from an ABA Therapist for hopefully consistent, weekly sessions. I listed some organizations or agencies that provide ABA under my Therapy section. Here’s a few below:

Lastly, to go a bit off topic, please view my recent post from Nov 12 to learn how you can help the Philippines. They still have a long way to go and every little bit counts. I donated to Direct Relief and hope you find some way to provide assistance to this country.
